On The Home Front
On the home front, women dealt with the many consequences of war – managing children and all the family responsibilities alone, shortages of food, luxuries and everyday necessities so that armies were adequately supplied and supported, as well as the fear for Australia’s future, and the grief and trauma of losing loved ones from the war. The war brought about positive transformations to their lifestyle, including changes in fashion and culture, and advancements in technology. For women, especially young ones, the war had also opened up many wonderful opportunities.
